After much deliberation, and in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have decided to cancel our annual HopeFest event which was scheduled to be held on Saturday, September 26th. The Alexandra House Board of Directors and staff collectively decided to cancel the event for 2020 in consideration of the difficulty of monitoring and enforcing social distancing requirements; and the health and safety of our community, volunteers, and vendor/exhibitors.
Alexandra House hosts its annual HopeFest event the last weekend of September, as our lead into October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The core principles of the event are to raise awareness about domestic and sexual violence, remember those we have lost, and honor the many survivors. This year, in its place we are developing several initiatives that our community can participate in during October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month; such as:
- #PurpleThursday (Thursday, October 22nd)
- Ask Me Why I Wear Purple Initiative
- Yard Sign Campaign
- Purple Lights Campaign
- Community Education Series on Domestic Violence
More details around these initiatives will be shared as we get closer to October. Stay tuned!
We look forward to celebrating with you next year when HopeFest returns Saturday, September 25, 2021.
