Alexandra House’s Holiday Shop is Accepting Donations

Alexandra House invites the community to participate in its annual Holiday Shop to help make the holidays a bit brighter for domestic and sexual violence survivors and their families. Our Holiday Shop donation drive is going on now and runs through Friday, December 10, 2021. Community members are invited to donate new, unwrapped toys, gifts, gift cards, or nonperishable holiday food items.

Alexandra House works with survivors and families throughout their journey of healing. Most of the individuals served through Alexandra House services are transitioning into a new, safer life. While greatly needed, this change can often lead to great financial hardship and many find themselves with scarcely any resources at their disposal. The holiday season is particularly difficult for these families and buying gifts is a luxury that often takes a lower priority for these families. We work tirelessly to help provide these families with a sense of comfort and joy during a particularly difficult time. Our Holiday Shop allows parents and children to shop for gifts (at no cost to them) for each other.

This year’s biggest need is for Target, Walmart, Visa, coffee, and restaurant gift cards for pre-teens and teens. Younger children enjoy arts and crafts kits, as well as remote control toys. Infants and toddlers need educational toys and books. Board games, card games, books, and puzzles are wonderful gifts for children of any age. Gift cards in increments of $25 such as gas cards, grocery stores, and others like Amazon, Target, and Walmart give families the flexibility to support their immediate needs.

The Alexandra House, Holiday Shop is hosted for program participants that have received services from Alexandra House within the last year and are referred by their advocate.

Donors should contact Alexandra House to schedule a donation drop-off by email communications@alexandrahouse.org or call 763-795-5473. Donations should be delivered by December 10th.
