Elder Abuse
According to the World Health Organization, by the year 2025, the global population of those aged 60 years and older will more than double, from 542 million in 1995 to about 1.2 billion. We do not have as much information about the extent of elder abuse in our society, but we do know that the effects are dramatically felt. Due to age-related health issues, and a pervasive thread of ageism in our community, many adults suffering abuse in later life face significant barriers to seeking safety. The resources and links below contain helpful information. Alexandra House advocates are also available 24 hours a day to support victims of elder abuse.
